At the Moment I’m traveling BC, the beautiful state at the Western coast of Canada. Most people rent a car (or buy it for long term trips).
I wanted to borrow my cousins but unfortunately didn’t work, so our party of two has hit the road without.
Exept the area around vancouver I would say that getting a ride with someone maybe works even better than in europe. In that area, I was told, people are very suspicious, because some bad things concerning hitchhikers sometimes appear in the newspapers (robbery, murder and stuff like that).
In BC cars in General are larger, so there is seldom a problem of space for your backpack. Also there are fewer highways, mostly without intersections, so you do never have to change a ride because it leaves your road.
