introduction chapter without number but in toc

You want to have an introductional chapter in your document but you don’t want it to be numbered as it is not really part of the body of the document? Here is a set of commands to achieve this. We add the chapter, add the line to the table of contents and finally have the pagemarks set.

\chapter*{Introduction}
\addcontentsline{toc}{chapter}{Introduction}
\markleft{Introduction}\markright{}
